Postpartum Doula
Are you preparing to welcome a new member into your family?
So many parents find this to be a time of mild-to-moderate chaos and disharmony in their home and relationship. I would love to assist you through this time of growth while ensuring that you and your partner are able to remain connected. I accomplish this with the understanding that welcoming a new family member can be a challenge - but a challenge that can be met with love, compassion, and patience.
I would love to meet you where you are each day,
which could mean:
- providing a listening ear to allow you to talk through any feelings you may be having about your birth and new parenting journey
- light cleaning such as laundry, sweeping, dishes
- caring for your little one while you shower or practice self-care
- playing with older siblings while you and baby rest
- caring for baby while you and your partner enjoy a peaceful coffee 'date' in the next room
Doula work isn't only focused on newborns. Often times parents find the changes in their baby around the 3 and 6 month marks to be the time they need the most support. Doulas are here to help you as your baby grows, not just in the first few weeks.
Your time of postpartum lasts a year and your support needs may come and go during that time. I'm happy to help you along any stage of your journey.
My Experience
I've been coaching families for almost seven years now. After extensive training and lots of experience, I can confidently say that I've helped hundreds of couples through the transition of building their family. It's one of the most rewarding of my offerings and I hope to be assisting families for decades more!
I'm Janelle!
I’m mom to a bunch of boys, a chunky cat, a goofy dog, and a couple of tree frogs.
In 2013, after my first son was born, I decided to begin attending La Leche League meetings. I loved hearing about how families found their new rhythms and learned how to breastfeed their babies. So many different aspects of parenting came up at the monthly meetings and I wanted to be able to assist families adjust to the demands of parenting and raising a family in these busy times. Being a postpartum doula allows me to do just that – offer individualized help to families.
Understanding and love are crucial during this time of transition, and I’m here to support you.
I love to write (I have published four novels so far!), knit, bake, and spend time with my family.
I’ve owned a small baking business in the past, so if you enjoy freshly baked goods in your home we can absolutely include that in my doula work!
I’m also trained as a professional organizer and would love to help you discover new ways to arrange your home before or after your baby is born.
